I read this article in the Boston Globe which says that the biggest threat for middle-age men is their loneliness. As men grow older, they tend to let their friendships lapse, and “loneliness has been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke and the progression of Alzheimer’s. One study found that it can be as much of a long-term risk factor as smoking.”
The suggestion in the article was that men need an activity in order to keep up a friendship. I didn’t want my friendship with Steve to lapse, and I wanted to decrease my risk of stroke and Alzheimer’s, so I suggested to Steve that we start a podcast. I thought a podcast where we interview every surviving member of our high school class would be interesting, and he agreed. So that’s why we are doing this.
I think it is working – we are having fun and keeping in touch. And we get to catch up with old friends.
I really enjoyed listening to your first Cfh94 podcast! What a great idea! For one thing it beats the hell out of other social media! (Now pressing Like). The audio kinda broke up a couple times. Not too bad. But, you didn’t need to bleep out as much that way! 😂. Josh was absolutely a perfect choice for the first guest! I especially enjoyed the sound effects section! Reminds me of the old TV cartoon show “Gerald McBoing Boing” who could Dave the day by replicating any sound. I.e. train whistles,
You guys were always so creative in high school with your new language spoonerism. One exception: don’t make animal noises in the cafeteria. 😟
Looking forward to listening to the next episode.

Thanks, Dad! Yeah, we had some trouble with the audio. We’ll keep experimenting to see if we can fix it for future episodes. The Skype call broke up a few times and more annoyingly there was some kind of interference on my end. There was one thing I bleeped that I don’t even know if I needed to bleep but I erred on the side of caution! I will have to check out Gerald McBoing Boing–that is a new one for me. Yes, I learned my lesson on the animal sounds in the cafeteria. 🙂
