Mike and Steve agonize over the correct pronunciation of “crayon” before bringing in guest Catherine (Amie) Tosenberger for a wide ranging discussion about theatre types, self-reliance, marrying classmate, Tim Smith, and. . .lots of stuff.
Joe Sorboro is this episode’s guest, and he talks about meeting his wife, the challenges of raising a child with autism, and reveals why he has worn short shorts all this time. Mike and Steve make two bombshell announcements.
Heather Lyell Shaw tells Mike and Steve about having a heart attack at age 19, describes the current state of Cuyahoga Falls High School, and reminisces about the late lamented Schnee and Sill schools. Mike and Steve drink the world’s rarest and best beer and become intoxicated.

It was awesome to catch up with Tracey – she is hilarious, and an inspiration. We laughed, we cried, and we played the “Make this Sound with Your Mouth Only” game. It was a blast.

And finally – Tracey practicing piano for her recital!
It was awesome to catch up with Josh – he is a really cool guy with a great sense of humor, and it was nice to get to know him better. We really appreciate that he was guest #1, having no idea what the podcast was like.

And here are links to some of the things Josh recommends in the episode:
Levis-I’m in love with their jeans, denim shirts, and a lot of their button down shirts. http://www.levi.com/US/en_US/
Dr. Scholl’s Graduated Compression Sock –Not because I’m diabetic, but these socks are one of the only ones I can find that actually stay up. So, if you are walking around, you don’t have to keep pulling your socks up. I wish they made more colors, but they only come in black, and brown. https://www.renfrosocks.com/mens-graduated-compression-sock-dsm-3266.aspx
Finally, my favorite work shirts are the Van Heusen Men’s Traveler Stretch Non Iron Long Sleeve Shirt. I’ve basically bought about ever style that Jc Penney has put on their shelfs.
They don’t have much selection now, but here is a good amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Van-Heusen-Traveler-Stretch-Sleeve/dp/B06XG2ZZSF should anyone want to add to their generic business casual office wardrobe.
Okay…that’s just a few of my favorite things. A big shout out to jcpenney.com. I get a lot of my clothing from there these days. The store gets made fun of a lot, but they have a ton of really good brands, and if you use the coupons, you get some really good discounts.
I read this article in the Boston Globe which says that the biggest threat for middle-age men is their loneliness. As men grow older, they tend to let their friendships lapse, and “loneliness has been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke and the progression of Alzheimer’s. One study found that it can be as much of a long-term risk factor as smoking.”
The suggestion in the article was that men need an activity in order to keep up a friendship. I didn’t want my friendship with Steve to lapse, and I wanted to decrease my risk of stroke and Alzheimer’s, so I suggested to Steve that we start a podcast. I thought a podcast where we interview every surviving member of our high school class would be interesting, and he agreed. So that’s why we are doing this.
I think it is working – we are having fun and keeping in touch. And we get to catch up with old friends.
